Ingredients

Noodles
  • 8 oz egg noodles or similar (rice noodles or any pasta) Ensure they are cooked al dente.
Beef
  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), sliced thinly Look for marbled cuts for tenderness.
Sauces & Flavorings
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Use a good quality like Kikkoman.
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce Lee Kum Kee is a trusted brand.
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce For sweetness and depth.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh is best.
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced Use fresh for vibrant flavor.
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil Look for toasted for more flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to your palate.
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional) Adds a beautiful finishing touch.
Garnish
  • 2 green onions sliced For garnish and a charming crunch.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add your egg noodles. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Cooking the Beef
  1. In a large pan or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. When shimmering, add the sliced beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add minced garlic and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Return the cooked beef to the pan and add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and hoisin sauce. Stir well, ensuring the beef gets coated in the sticky goodness for about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the cooked noodles to the pan, tossing everything together until heated through and well combined, roughly 2-3 minutes.
  5. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed, then remove from heat.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

Make sure to slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness. For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
