Ingredients

Pasta and Base
  • 12 oz Spaghetti Pasta Use high-quality durum wheat pasta for the best texture.
Meat and Vegetables
  • 1 lb Ground Beef 80/20 beef preferred for rich flavor; can substitute with turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup Bell Pepper A mix of red and green is recommended for color and sweetness.
  • 1 medium Onion Yellow onions bring a perfect sweetness.
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil Canola or avocado oil recommended for sautéing.
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Chopped for garnish; adds a fresh touch.
Flavorings and Seasonings
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce Use low-sodium to control saltiness.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh is best; minced.
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Fresh grated ginger is recommended.
  • Salt to taste Salt Start with ¼ teaspoon.
  • Pepper to taste Pepper Start with ¼ teaspoon.

Method

Cooking the Spaghetti
  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the spaghetti. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside, drizzling with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
Preparing the Meat Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Swirl the pan until the oil shimmers.
  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant and the onions become translucent.
  3. Increase the heat slightly and add the ground beef. Cook until browned—this should take about 5-7 minutes. Break it apart with your spatula as it cooks.
  4. Stir in the diced bell pepper and cook for another 3-5 minutes until softened and bright.
  5. Add in the soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together to combine, and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until heated through and flavors meld.
Combining and Serving
  1. Toss the cooked spaghetti into the skillet with the meat sauce, ensuring every strand is coated.
  2. Plate the dish and garnish with chopped green onions for a fresh finish. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze the meat sauce for up to 2 months.
