  • 1 cup butter Ensure it's room temperature for easy melting.
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup Helps in making the caramel sticky and glossy; light corn syrup is recommended.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt A pinch adds balance to the sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Gives a light, airy texture.
  • 1 cup nuts (optional) Peanuts, walnuts, or pecans can add crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Pop the popcorn and place it in a large bowl, ensuring there are no unpopped kernels.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Boil for 4-5 minutes without stirring until it turns a lovely golden color.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda.
Combining
  1. Pour the caramel over the popcorn and mix well using a spatula.
  2. Add nuts if desired and mix again.
  3. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  2. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For a fun twist, try using flavored popcorn. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
