Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Sift the cocoa to avoid lumps.
- Add softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined—about 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.
Decorating
- Frost the top with white frosting using a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Use red jelly or jam to create bite marks on top of the frosting.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. You can make these a day in advance without frosting.
